Product Care and Cleaning
Our window treatments are designed to require minimal care and cleaning that may require regular dusting and periodic vacuuming.
Dusting. Regular, light dusting ensures that your product retains a like-new appearance. We recommend dusting two times a month; although, depending on the room and the color of the product, more or less dusting may be required.
Vacuuming. Use the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner to deep-clean products like shades.
Household Cleaning Products. Not all window treatments can be spot cleaned. Spot-clean shades and blinds with a soft cloth (preferably microfiber) moistened with lukewarm water. Use a mild detergent, if needed (no not use products with bleach or acetone). Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging fabrics.
Other things to consider:
- Ensure that shutters and blinds are left completely dry after cleaning
- If using furniture polish on your wood shutters and blinds, use non-yellowing polish
- Never remove shutters off of their hinges and spray down with water or paint.
Child Safety
Prevention starts with awareness. The safety of your children is important to us. All of our custom shutters are cordless eliminating the potential safety hazards that operating chords can pose. Most other products that we offer at North West Shutters can be either motorized or include a cordless design. All other products that include chords will be installed with warning labels.
Other things to consider:
- Position cribs, beds, playpens away from windows
- Permanently assemble continuous-loop window fashion cords to the wall
- Regularly check that the chords of blinds and shades are not exposed and out of the reach of children
Warranty
Covered By a Lifetime Limited Warranty
- North West Shutters window fashion products are covered for defects in materials, workmanship or failure to operate for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product (unless shorter periods are provided below)
- All internal mechanisms
- Components and brackets
- Operational cords for a full 4 years from the date of purchase
- Repairs and/or replacements will be made with like or similar parts or products
Not Covered (By a Lifetime Limited Warranty)
- Any conditions caused by normal wear and tear
- Abuse, accidents, misuse or alterations to the product.
- Exposure to the elements (sun damage, wind, water/ moisture) and discoloration or fading over time.
- Failure to follow our instructions with respect to measurement, proper installation, cleaning or maintenance.
- Shipping charges, cost of removal and reinstallation.
